Blogmas Day 6: Festive Activities For Couples

Festive Activities

Nothing better on those cold, dark December evenings than spending time with your favourite person, am I right? But, instead of just popping in a dvd and spending yet another night on the sofa (which can be lots of fun, don’t get me wrong), why not try something different in the next couple of weeks? Now, I know it can be hard to come up with fun ideas somethimes, but don’t worry – I’ve got you covered.

1. Board Game Night

One of the things my boyfriend and I absolutely love to do, is play board games together. We’ve had a period around Halloween-time where we were obsessed with a game called Mysterium – I think we played it pretty much every chance we got for two weeks straight. And it’s so much fun! Now, I don’t know if there are any Christmas-themed board games (I mean, probably), but putting on a Christmas film in the background or listening to your favourite Christmas song is sure to make this a fun festive activity for two.

2. Christmas Market(s)

I don’t know about you, but one of the things I look foward to every single year when Christmas is right around the corner, are the Christmas markets. I just love getting all layered up to brave the cold and leisurely strolling through a maze of stalls. I do have to admit that one of my favourite parts of going to a Christmas market is sampling some delicious food and drinking the most scrumptious hot chocolates, although I also love discovering some hidden gems that would make for the perfect Christmas gifts.

3. Decorating The Christmas Tree

This is really just a holiday essential. Whether your Christmas tree is real or fake, get to decorating! Pop on your favourite festive playlist, belt along to all of the Christmas classics and just take your merry time making your Christmas tree the prettiest it can be. I always make an event out of this – it’s just a lot more fun when you don’t have to do it by yourself. Grab some of your favourite snacks for fuel, pour the two of you a nice cup of hot chocolate and decorate to your heart’s content.

4. Go Ice Skating

Isn’t this just the most romantic activity you can think of this time of year? Admittedly, my boyfriend and I haven’t gone ice skating together once in the two years we’ve been together, but it’s definitely on our bucket list for December 2017. Most Christmas markets have an ice skating rink, so you can even kill two birds with one stone (now that’s a cruel saying if I ever did see one). My absolute dream, though, is to go ice skating on a frozen pond or river! I don’t think it’s ever going to happen around here, but a girl can dream.

5. Walking In A Winter Wonderland

I mean… I just had to. It might not be the first thing that springs to mind when you’re trying to think of fun, festive activities to do with your partner, but trust me on this one – a nice, long walk on those crispy cold but sunny winter days can be amazing. It’s so nice to be able to clear your head as you breathe in the fresh (I mean, freezing) air, staying close together to keep warm. The best part is that you can totally treat yourself to a nice hot chocolate (or two) when you get home!

Those are basically the five activities that are on my Christmas bucket list for this year, but if you’ve got more suggestions I’d love to hear them! And I’ll see you again tomorrow for another day of Blogmas.
