A Day In The Life: Exam Edition

Since I love watching (daily) vlogs on YouTube but feel a bit awkward filming them myself, I thought writing a blog post detailing what an average day in my life looks like would be a fun idea. I’m currently smack dab in the middle of ‘exam season’, so that does have an impact on how I spend my days. My plan is to create a sort of mini series and write these posts during different times of the year when I have varying schedules. Just a heads up: this is going to be very detailed, because I’m a perfectionist and I want to include every single thing I do (except maybe my bathroom breaks).

5:55 am – My alarm goes off, and rather than hop out of bed immediately (which would probably be better, let’s be real) I like to stay in bed for another 15 – 20 minutes. It gives me a chance to fully wake up and catch up on everything I missed on social media while I was sleeping. …I mean, I should probably work on that.

6:15ish am – I get out of bed. This usually takes a bit of effort, I’m not gonna lie. But anyway, I get dressed and head to the bathroom.

6:20 am – Time for my morning skincare routine!

6:35 am – Back to the bedroom for my daily morning yoga routine. I never thought I’d say this, but it really does give me that little bit of extra energy to tackle the rest of the day.

6:45 am – Breakfast, finally! I’m basically already starving at this point. I like to take my time for this – there’s really no point in rushing, is there?

7:00 am – Back to the bathroom to brush my teeth.

7:05 – 9:00 am – This is part of my leisure time. I watch a few YouTube videos (depending on how many there are in my Watch Later), read a couple of blog posts and basically just do whatever I feel like.

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – The first block of studying. I do take a few tiny breaks in between, but they’re really not worth mentioning as they’re so short! This is when I’m at my most productive, so I try to plan the most difficult stuff for the morning.

12:00 – 1:00 pm – Lunch break! Eating usually doesn’t take me an hour, although it depends on who’s at home and what the conversations are about, but I tend to have about half an hour left to read some more blog posts or scroll through social media.

1:00 – 5:00 pm – The second block of studying. At the halfway point is usually when I hit my afternoon slump, but I try to power through and get as much studying done as possible. Trying to treat uni and studying as somewhat of a 9 – 5 has really been working out for me so far!

5:10 pm – Time for Adriene’s 30 Day Yoga Challenge. The length of these routines varies, but they’re usually somewhere around the 20 – 30 minute mark. Although these routines can be bloody hard and I’m definitely feeling it in all of my muscles, it’s nice to do some exercise after sitting at my desk all day.

5:40 – 6:30 pm – Leisure time! I wish I could say that I spend this time working on my blog or doing something equally productive, but I’ll probably just be catching up on social media again. I do want to make a genuine effort to change that, though. I need to spend more of my free time working on my blog!

6:30 pm – Dinner. Well, it’s usually somewhere around this time, anyway. This really depends on what day it is and what other activities my parents have planned, because they’re usually the ones doing the cooking (and when I say ‘usually’ I mean 99.9% of the time).

7:00 pm – 9:00 pm – To be completely honest, I don’t really know what I do within this time frame. I usually set myself the goal of working on a blog post, or reading a ton of other people’s blog post, or something else blog related… But I never seem to be abe to do any of that. I’m basically just wasting my time, is what I’m trying to say. I’m usually already pretty tired by this point and aimlessly scrolling through social media (or sometimes reading a book, I have to say) is all I can manage. Sad, really.

9:00ish pm – I try to start getting ready for bed at this point. This includes my evening skincare routine and an evening yoga routine to help me relax.

9:30 – 10:00 pm – This is usually when I try to go to bed. Ideally, I’d like it to be even earlier, but on most days that’s not very realistic, unfortunately.

So there you have it, a day in the life of me. If you’ve stuck with me til the end, then wow, you’re really a trooper. Or maybe you just like being nosy and seeing what people get up to on the daily. Either way, congratulations! You’ve reached the end of the post. I hope you enjoyed reading this, and if you like the idea of me doing this as a mini series please do leave a comment down below (although I’ll probably be doing it anyway).
